Major Renovation - The Sunday School Room

Renovated and Reopened

After months of hard work, The Sunday School Room at All Saints, Lopen, was beautifully renovated and is open for the whole community to enjoy. The refurbishment — new flooring, a stylish new kitchen, infrared heating, improved lighting and drainage — was made possible through donations and grants, including a generous £20,000 from the National Lottery, alongside support from residents, the Parish Council, and the Lopen Church Council.

The Grand Reopening took place on Saturday 31 May 2025, with lifelong Lopen resident Colin Cable cutting the ribbon to declare the building officially open. Revs Julia and Bob unveiled a benefactor plaque recognising all who contributed, before everyone enjoyed refreshments and cake together in the churchyard.

None of this would have been possible without our dedicated volunteers — particular thanks go to Steve Chapman, Mary Chapman, Jonathan Delbridge, Ross Isbell, Belinda Bezance, Jean Morton, Nicki Middleton, Colin Bennett, and Marc Smith for their hard work throughout the project.

A small volunteer group now oversees the room, and All Saints PCC is keen to grow this team further — if you'd like to get involved in managing or promoting this valuable community space, do get in touch.
