Life events - Confirmation

If you would like to arrange a confirmation then please contact Rev Andy- contact details are on the home page.

What is confirmation?
People who have been baptised may be confirmed provided they are old enough to renew themselves the promises made for them at their baptism by their parents and godparents.

The bishop presides at the service and will use he opportunity of the sermon to talk to the candidates about the responsibilities of adult Christian life and they will then make their public profession of faith. During the service the bishop prays that the Holy Spirit will come upon those who are to be confirmed. They kneel before the bishop, who lays his hands on the head of each, saying: Confirm, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit.

How we prepare for confirmation
We run two courses each year for those wishing to be confirmed. A group for the under 18's and another called 'Thinking Allowed' for adults. 'Thinking Allowed' is for those wanting to know more about Christianity, those seeking to be confirmed or those who simply want a refresher in the basics of our faith.

'Thinking Allowed' takes place at the beginning of the year. A Course for young people wanting to be confirmed will begin each year around Easter time.
