St. Giles is the Church of England Parish Church for Hartington, within the Diocese of Derby. Hartington Church dates back to about 1250 AD and was once one of the largest parishes in England covering some 24,000 acres. During the 19th century several other churches were built to serve nearby communities. Now Hartington Church just serves the immediate village and the parish of Hartington Town Quarter and is part of "The White Peak" group of parishes together with Biggin, Earl Sterndale, Monyash, Chelmorton and, Taddington.
The Church is open daily between the hours of 10:0 and 17:00 and visitors are always welcome to enjoy the Church and it's surroundings and to join us for worship at our regular Sunday services. Service times and Church events are detailed on this site and if you would like to know more about the Church, a booklet is available in the Church or you can send for a copy by post, details on how to do this can be found Church Guide and Donations section.
A guided tour of Hartington Church is available for groups of people including school parties but these must be booked in advance by contacting the Churchwarden.
Vicar - Rev Adele Barker has been appointed as interim priest in charge of our White Peak group and the Youlgreave group. Rev'd Adele's licensing takes place on May 24th, 7.30 pm at All Saints, Youlgreave.
