Today we give thanks for all the blessings we receive from God through the richness of his creation - all that grows, and the labour of those who provide for us in our daily needs. Hymns today are from Celebration Hymnal.
Gifts for the Harvest will be offered in the course of the service, and benefit the Consett Food Bank

Behold the kingdom of our Lord. Behold the beauty of the sky, the warmth of the earth, the wonders of his creation.
The Lord who threw stars into space and hung the cobwebs of the morning with tears of light, he alone is to be praised.
Come with joy and praise his holy name. Amen. Alleluia.
Confession
Let us confess our forgetfulness of the needs of the poor,
and let us say sorry for the ways in which we waste the resources of the world.
God has blessed us, but still God’s children go hungry.

May the God of love and power

Eternal God,
you crown the year with your goodness

grant that we may use them to your glory,

FIRST READING Deuteronomy 28
A reading from the book of Deuteronomy.
1 If you will only obey the LORD your God, by diligently observing all his commandments that I am commanding you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth; 2 all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the LORD your God:
3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb,
the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your livestock,
both the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock.
5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading-bowl.
6 Blessed shall you be when you come in,
and blessed shall you be when you go out.
8 The LORD will command the blessing upon you in your barns, and in all that you undertake; he will bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. 9 The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he has
sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.
11 The LORD will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground in the land that the LORD swore to your ancestors to give you. 12 The LORD will open for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all your undertakings.
This is the Word of the Lord.

GOSPEL Luke 12.16–30
Hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke.
Glory to you, O Lord.
22 Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! 25 And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? 26 If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you – you of little faith! 29 And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying. 30 For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.’

Prayer of offering
Food we bring to you, Lord will you bless it?
Fruit we bring, Lord will you bless them?
Means to make us clean we bring ,Lord will you bless them?
Hands for work we bring, Lord will you bless them?
The needs of others we bring, Lord will you bless them?
Ourselves we bring to you, Lord will you bless us?
We say this prayer together after the Intercession
The earth is fruitful may we be generous.
The earth is fragile may we be gentle.
The earth is fractured may we be just.
Creating God, harvest in us joy and generosity
as we together share in thanks and giving.
The Peace
The harvest of the Spirit is love, joy, peace.
If the Spirit is the source of our life,
let the Spirit also direct its course. The peace of the Lord
