St Peter's Church, Newnham-on-Severn
Welcome to St Peter’s, Newnham on Severn! We are a friendly and active church, integral to the village community, welcoming people of all ages and abilities. Together, we participate in a range of services, formal and informal, well as study and lots of social activities. The church is the largest building in the village, set on the cliff overlooking the Severn, and a good place for meals, concerts, Burns Night and all sorts of things. It's open every day from about 9am until about 5pm – do come in to look round or just for a quiet moment.
Our choir sings at all of our main services, which are (usually!): Communion at 9.15am and Evensong at 5.30pm on the 1st Sunday of the month, Morning Prayer at 9.15am on the 2nd Sunday, Communion at 9.15am on the 3rd Sunday and Informal Worship, with songs on our screen and activities, at 11am on the 4th Sunday. There's also a said BCP Communion service at 8am every 4th Sunday, and a said Communion service every Thursday at 10.15am followed by 'Teas at St P's' at 11am. We're part of the benefice of Newnham, Awre and Blakeney, and on 5th Sundays and patronal festivals we join together at one of our churches for a benefice service.
Other regular events are Messy Church every month, with activities, songs and a meal which we enjoy with families, and Monday and Tuesday Clubs held at Newnham St Peter's, our Church of England primary school. And throughout the year there are other special events - a great Burns Night in January, the regular Newnham Live music festival in June, the canopied Christmas Market of local crafts and food in November, and other concerts and meals. If you look at the calendar in the 'Services and Events' page you'll see what's coming up.
We hope you can find what you are looking for on this site. If you've just moved into the village we've produced a 'Welcome to Newnham' pack which gives details of all of our organisations, clubs, facilities etc. and a map. Do get in touch if you'd like a welcome pack, if you need more information or you want to talk anything through - see our contact details on the 'Who's who at St Peter's' page. We've been here a long time and hope that you can find a place here too and become part of the story of this place with us.
