Weddings, funerals and baptisms

Revd Rachel, our other clergy and the churchwarden are committed to everyone in Newnham, day-to-day and for the special life events which we all experience. Do contact one of them for help or more information - their details are on the 'Who's who at St Peter's' page.

Weddings

Churches are special places and we would love to help you explore getting married here. Thanks to a change in the law, it is now easier to get married in a particular church. Lots of people want to get married here because it is their local church, but we also recognise that, for some, it has special significance through family or other connections. Either way, please feel that you can contact us to discuss getting married here.

With the easier legal rules, you can marry at St Peter's if either of you can demonstrate any of the seven connections listed below.

That one of you:

•has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

•was baptised in the parish concerned or

•was prepared for confirmation in the parish or

•has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or

That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

•has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

•has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or

That one of your parents or grandparents:

•was married in the parish

Funerals

With you every step of the way: the church will always be there to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. A Church of England-led funeral is available to everyone, and Revd Rachel will discuss with you how to make your loved one's service personal, and will give support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed.  Do contact her, Revd Brian Brobyn, Revd Sarah Hobbs or one of the churchwardens - their details are on the 'Who's Who at St Peter's' page.

Baptisms and Thanksgiving for Birth

We are always delighted to welcome people of any age into the family of the church, It’s the start of an amazing journey of faith and a special day for all your friends and family.

A service of thanksgiving for a child is particularly aimed at those who perhaps don't yet feel able to make the declarations in the baptism service but would like to stand, with family and friends, and give thanks to God for their child. Do contact Revd Rachel if you would like to know more about either of these services - her details are on the 'Who's who at St Peter's' page.
