Christenings and Baptisms

As part of the Church of England we often receive requests to baptise/christen children.  We look forward to welcoming anyone who wants to explore their Christian faith and to discover what that means in the context of their family lives.  We suggest that parents wishing to have their children presented for baptism are already regular attenders, or become regular attenders.  After a reasonable time we will then discuss whether a service of baptism or an alternative service of thanksgiving for the gift of the child is more appropriate for the parents in question.  This may be done as part of an ongoing period of reflection and conversation and we would welcome the opportunity to share with any parents the meaning of the baptism service so that they might enter into the service as fully as possible, expressing their own Christian commitment as well as their ongoing responsibility to nurture and teach their children.
