St. James the Great

“A welcoming church community and a beautiful building” is the way visitors describe St James the Great church, located at the heart of the old village of Daisy Hill in 1881. Now much expanded Daisy Hill has a growing population and alongside our regular worship, which is centred around the celebration of Holy Communion, we host many open door events for the wider community, support Urban Outreach and charitable organisations.

Welcome to our ‘bit’ of the Church of England’s A Church Near You website. We are trying to use it to share useful information with our worshiping congregation and to communicate with wider communities. You may find items you might not have expected to find under the various labels, we post items were they work best, so please explore and have a good look around using the tabs on the left and then any other tabs in that section. A wide variety of services are held at Daisy Hill Church offering traditional and more contemporary worship styles. Each Sunday at 10am a service of Common Worship, Holy Communion with Hymns and it becomes a more Family orientated service on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Each Wednesday at 9am, Wiggle Worship with songs and fun activities for pre-school aged children with parents or guardians followed at 10.30am by a said Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion / Eucharist service using the traditional words with no hymns.

Occasional Services include Messy Church, a lively and fun way to worship and play on a Saturday Morning for school aged children. Periodic Reflective Services are held at St James' and the other churches in the Team to give anyone, who wishes to attend, the space to find some peace and tranquility walking a quiet path with God.

St Bart's

Welcome to St Bartholomew's Church, part of Westhoughton Parish which also includes St George the Hoskers and St Thomas Chequerbent,

St John's Wingates

St John's Wingates is here as a Christian presence to support our congregation and community; please do not hesitate to contact us if we can offer you help and support.

Our Services: Please join us at St John’s Wingates on Sundays where we hold our Morning Worship Service or Holy Communion at 9.30 am.

We have an All Age Service on the 3rd Sunday each month and a Service of Healing Prayer on the 5th Sunday each month. Our Children’s Church is held as part of our Sunday services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.

Our Church Activities: We have regular church activities including Men's Breakfast, Bric-a-brac & Brew, Talkin’ Tables, Calling All Ladies, Ignite Youth (our Team Youth Church)and various events to support both our church and community. These include collecting food and other items for Urban Outreach and Westhoughton Assist. More information is available in "Services & Events".

Parents: Please remember that you are now required to attend an act of worship in person for you and your child's attendance to count for school admission purposes.

DAILY HOPE - you might be interested to hear about the FREE phone line provided by the Church of England offering hymns, prayers and words of comfort. Each call lasts about 20 minutes.
