Please note the memorial will cover two days in 2025 because the 21st falls on Sunday

December 21st 1910 the date when 344 men and boys perished is commemorated at 7.30am at the Centenary Memorial in Ditchfield Gardens Westoughton, followed by a memorial service held in St Bartholomew’s Church at 10.00am and the final memorial at 2.00pm is held at the Atherton memorial.

A quiet said service lasting 30 to 40 minutes with no hymns sung. The traditional words of the Book of Common prayer are used, large print service booklets are available.

Refreshments are available after the service providing an opportunity for a chat and fellowship, we often linger for an hour, making new friends, enjoying each others company and news.

Our doors are open from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon on the first Saturday of each month to welcome people to come and enjoy a chat and a cup of tea, or a quiet time to themselves.

A good time for visits to the churchyard spend some quiet personal time in the church, enjoy refreshments and use the toilet facilities.
