What is top of your mind when thinking about Easter Day – Sunday 20th? Is it chocolate eggs, food for a family gathering or feeding yourself spiritually? You will see elsewhere the full list of Easter services but I’d like to shout it loud:
Easter Sunday Service 9.30am in St Mary’s Easter is a busy time for vicars and especially retired vicars when there are 17 churches in our Deanery without incumbents. So we are very grateful to Rev. Ray Skinner who has agreed to take the service in Leigh as well as at other churches so we are starting at 9.30am, not later, to allow him time to fit everyone in.
Moving Forward God’s plan for Leigh is not clear to us yet but looking forward we want to maintain all the activities in our current programme. To do this successfully the PCC plan to arrange training to give people the confidence to take on more leadership responsibilities, in Forest Church, in services and in other activities. 1 Timothy 3 says “ Here is a trustworthy saying: whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task” Paul goes on to list more qualities of people taking on leadership roles. Please pray and ask “Is it I Lord?” and if you feel God is calling you to help, please speak with one of us.
Church cleaning We plan to start this with the high cleaning process on Monday 7th April. We will remove all the pew cushions to the Genner Rooms for brushing and cleaning. The high areas, aided by a long ladder, will be cleaned of all debris and then left for the dust to settle. Then, on Wednesday 9th in the morning, a team is needed to sweep and dust all the pews and surrounding areas before the pew cushions are replaced. We hope that, with sufficient volunteers, this can be done fairly quickly. It maybe that Coffee Stop cannot take place. Please come and help this essential work - we look forward to plenty of help. Tea/coffee and cakes will be provided to help the work along!
