Tuesday 10 March ….. BENEDICTION with Jack Lowden, Peter Capaldi, Simon Russel Beale. Directed by Terence Davies. The film follows the life of Siegfried Sassoon , the poet and WWI combat veteran. His stand against war, and his experience in a psychiatric facility. He had love affairs with several men during the ‘20’s, married, had a son and converted to Catholicism. 

Tuesday 14 April …. ANGELA’S ASHES directed by Alan Parker, with Emily Watson and Robert Carlyle. You will know this is the true story of a family which start in post war America and moves to Limerick. It is a hard look at So Ila conditions of the time, of the poverty and pain of family life in the post war years. 

Tuesday May 12. …THE ENGLISH PATIENT directed by Anthony Minghella, with Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Kristin Scott Thomas and Colin Firth. The sweeping expanses of the Sahara are the setting for a passionate love affair. A badly burnt man, is tended to by a nurse in an Italian monastery near the end of WWII. His past is revealed through flashbacks involving a married woman and his work mapping the African landscape. 

 The film club meets in the Genner Rooms next to the church.
