Thurs 17th Maundy Thursday, White:
7pm Mass @ SJE: Institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Scared Priesthood,
Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Solemn Vigil which concludes with Compline (Night Prayer) at 10pm

Fri 18th Good Friday, Red:
3pm @ SJE: The Liturgy of the Cross & Mass of the Presanctified
Stations of the Cross after the Solemn Liturgy.

Sat 19th Holy Saturday, Purple & Gold:
Church Cleaning during the day at both Parishes

6:30pm @ Christ Church the Solemn Easter Vigil

Sun 20th EASTER DAY, Gold:
10am @ SJE Solemn Mass & Benediction of Easter Day

​Welcome to the United Benefice of Christ Church, Stancliffe and St John the Evangelist, Carlinghow. We are a vibrant, friendly, and social community of Christians situated in Batley, West Yorkshire, within the Diocese of Leeds.

​Our Tradition and Oversight

​As a parish committed to the Catholic tradition of the Church of England, we are affiliated with The Society and receive episcopal oversight from the Bishop of Beverley. Our community is served by a priest of the Society of the Holy Cross (SSC).

​Our Worship

​The Eucharist is at the very heart of our life together, and Mass is celebrated daily within the Benefice. Our worship is grounded in "High Church" practice, offering a sensory and prayerful experience through:

​Rich Ceremonial & Vestments: Traditional liturgy that honours the beauty of holiness.

​Sacred Music: The use of traditional hymns and the ancient beauty of plainchant.

​Incense & Bells: Elements that lift our hearts and minds toward the divine.

​Devotion: A deep and enduring reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the Saints.
