Have you noticed work going on at the church?Following a spate of lead thefts from our south aisle roof, major repair work is now underway to replace this, and also to repair damage to the tower which occurred during the recent high winds. The PCC has made the decision not to replace the roof with lead, but instead to use tern-coated stainless steel, a material which is similar in appearance, but harder to remove, and without the resale value of lead. While this means a bigger project, as we must replace the entire side aisle roof, it is hoped that this step - as well as an optimised alarm system - will help to minimise the risk of recurrence. We know how much these thefts affected the whole village, and many people have already donated generously towards the costs of this repair. Thank you! If anybody else would like to help out, you can find out how to donate here. The work is expected to take around 8 weeks.Another great way to help out is to come along to the Fete this Saturday 4 July at 12 noon at Wades House, with proceeds going towards the upkeep of the Church. We are so grateful to everyone who is working tirelessly putting the final preparations in place, and it promises to be a great occasion - the first summer fete since before Covid. We look forward to seeing you there!
