Mid-week service using the Book of Common Prayer

All are welcome to join the Ministry Team on Fridays for the Office of Morning Prayer.
Morning Prayer on weekdays is from the Church of England publication “Common Worship – Daily Prayer”. We have copies of the printed book in church, but people with smartphones generally use the Daily Prayer app which provides the prayers and readings for each day. Sometimes our coffee morning is followed by a talk, starting at 11am.

Special Harvest Thanksgiving

Today we have Holy Communion rather than our usual third-Sunday Morning Worship, because next Sunday there will be the special King Alfred Service.

A special service commemorating Alfred the Great and honouring his legacy, including a psalm sung in Anglo-Saxon (as translated by the King) and, following the service, a procession and prayers at the grave site in Hyde Abbey Gardens. All welcome!

As the former lay church for Hyde Abbey, St Bartholomew’s holds this special service every year on the Sunday nearest to the anniversary of the King’s death on 26 October 899.

Readings and a short address and prayers, remembering those we have loved and who have died in the recent, or distant, past.

Special service for Remembrance Sunday

When there’s a fifth Sunday in the month, we come together as a benefice rather than have morning services in both St Bartholomew’s and St Lawrence. On this fifth Sunday, Advent Sunday, it’s St Lawrence’s turn to host the service.
