About Us

St John's is a family of Christians from all walks of life, serving the Parish of Newland, north of Hull City Centre.

We love our Saviour Jesus Christ and try to live with him in charge of our lives as we learn from God's word, the Bible.

We look forward to welcoming you, whether you're just checking out Christianity and have lots of questions, you've recently decided to follow Jesus, or you have been a Christian for many years.

We are the Parish Church for Hull University; our parish includes its main campus, skirts around Orchard Park and takes in the village of Dunswell to the north, while on the other side it follows the west bank of the River Hull.

We're partners in mission with Newland St John's Church of England Primary Academy, whose grounds back on to the church.

We are part of the Diocese of York, the Church of England from the Humber to the Tees and from the Yorkshire coast to the A1, led by the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, and in the care of the Bishop of Hull, Eleanor Sanderson.

We'd love you to get married at St John's - do get in touch to see how we can help - and you can contact us at any time about baptisms and christenings, or funerals.

We're looking forward to meeting you.
