Friends of St Peter's: Projects and Leaflet

Founded in 1998, the Friends’ of St Peter's primary responsibility is to look after the fabric of the church and the churchyard.  (See leaflet by the West door)   This enables the PCC to concentrate on Ministry and Mission.  The committee has six members, three elected by the PCC and three by the membership at the AGM in April.

We now have 150 ‘Friends’ and since 1998 they have completed almost 100 small & larger projects: very few areas have not received some improvement.   All medieval buildings require continuous maintenance and our high standards have meant that some areas have had to be redecorated more than once!

Since our first project, we have spent almost £300,000 (an average of over £27 every day) & have received thousands of hours of ‘free’ labour, which has meant being able to complete even more of our goals in the church and the churchyard.  For instance, we have almost 40 people on the Gardening Rota, at least 2 of whom spend time in the churchyard each week.   We now have ambitious plans to make improvements both inside the church and in the churchyard.
