Church of England Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich Shelland

Shelland, King Charles the Martyr

The church building at Shelland remains open for private prayer.  Public worship is currently less frequesnt although this will increase as lockdown lifts.  There are a variety of options for 'in person' or 'zoom' worship across this Benefice.

Each week there will be an 11am service of Holy Communion in one of the larger churches (please contact Revd Canon Pauline to book your place) as well as a 9.30am Zoom service that people are welcome to attend from wherever they are.  Weather permitting, Evening services will take place in all of the smaller churches throughout the summer.  Please check the summer service list (here) to find a service near you.

Please see the News or Coronavirus Precautions pages for details of the most recent guidelines and advice.

Shelland is a small rural parish with a small but active church community. We are one of seven churches in the Combs and Finborough Group comprising churches in Combs, Great and Little Finborough, Buxhall, Onehouse, Harleston and Shelland.  Like all of the churches in our group we join together in various benefice services and activities whilst also maintaining our own personality.  Our most famous, and in some cases unique, features include box pews, a three tier pulpit and a regularly played barrel organ.

The parish of Shelland: King Charles the Martyr is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
