Crafty Church and Palm Sunday.

At Crafty Church we had a wonderful service today. The children and adults enjoyed the account of Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey. We were unable to have a live donkey today, as she was otherwise engaged, but we had an excellent stand-in, who complete with a very novel costume, entertained all those present. Palms were laid across the aisles and even continued down the church paths – we have taken some photos to share before the forecasted rain, washes all the lovely chalk drawings away. Prayers were said for friends in the Parish and further afield, and for those with difficult decisions ahead of them. Refreshments were supplied by the team and were enjoyed by all, whilst the young children completed their activities.

Sundown Service on Easter Saturday.

It has become a tradition at St  Paternus to hold an outdoor "Sundown Service" by a fire when the weather allows. This year we were able to do so, despite a cold breeze and light rain.

The service was preceded by a round of tasty hotdogs and a fun easter egg hunt, which was enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Rev'd Jess conducted a lovely service to celebrate the rising from the dead of Jesus Christ and this she followed by blessing the beautiful outdoor Easter Garden. Click on the second download button for a short video portrayal of the garden, which ends by looking into the empty tomb. Try to imagine how Mary Magdalene must have felt on that Sunday morning when she discovered that the tomb was empty.

Most of the assembled congregation remained after the service for much needed hot drinks, mainly chocolate, and toasted marshmallows.

A collage of the Easter Garden, the decorated Lych Gate and the beautiful flower arrangements inside the church, will shortly be available.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those talented people who created the beautiful Easter Garden and the wonderful flower arrangements.
