We held our annual remembrance service in church and in the churchyard led by Rev Sarah Hancox and Lay Minister Charlotte Taylor. Our villa has two war memorials, a cenotaph in the churchyard with the names of those who died 1914-18, and the 1939-45 memorial inside church alongside the book of remembrance. We hold two Acts of Remembrance for the fallen of the village. During the services wreaths were laid by the British Legion and Cllr Mary Harland attended and laid a wreath on behalf of Leeds City Council. We also had the Methley Rainbows and Brownies attend the service. 12/11/23
A big thank you to Cllrs James Lewis, Mary Harland and Michael Millar who supported us with a grant to purchase welcome seating outside St. Margaret’s Hall. Also thank you Chris Eustace who secured them in place. 11/11/23
A busy Saturday with this months Poppy Appeal coffee morning. As this year the event fell on the 11th November we also joined the nation in a two minute silence at 11am. We were all joined by our local councillors. The coffee morning raised an amazing £400 for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. 12/11/23
Hedgehogs are ready for hibernation this time of year and can crawl into piles of wood. When lighting a bonfire look for any signs that one has crawled inside. Hedgehogs can have water, dog and cat food but don’t give them milk or leave out discarded pumpkins as it upsets their tummies. Making a hedgehog home is simple, and can be done by using a plant pot, foliage and leaves. Always ensure that the pot is large enough for them to get in and out.
