Between 9.30pm Friday and 9.30am Saturday 8th June thieves broke into the storage container in the Ladybirds Nursery car park. The entire stock of Methley St Oswald's church mowing machinery was stolen. If you have noticed anything suspicious which might help the police in their enquiries, please contact Churchwarden Peter Bloodworth on 07599 419766 or peter.bloodworth@hotmail.co.uk "
As part of a national initiative to reduce the use of plastics in funeral flowers, Jackie Davis a member of our floristry group attended an event in Birmingham recently with other florists organised by Farewell Fowers. This also linked with the work of Gods Acre who support the care of churchyards.Photo by Andrea Gilpin10/5/24
As Summer approaches many of us will be visiting garden centres. Some suggestions that will help us make better choices are:🍀 Buy peat free compost. Most compost is these days but always worth a check.🌹Read the label on the plant. Was it grown in the UK? Many smaller, local nurseries grow their own plants thus reducing air miles. Plants grown locally will also be adapted to local weather conditions.🌺 Is the plant good for insects, butterflies and the bees? Plants with open flowers and not many petals are easier for them to get the nectar and pollen.1/5/24
April Eco TipIt’s time to plant seeds and we have a range of seeds in our Seed Swap box in the porch at church. Currently we have nasturtiums, wild flowers, cornflowers and sweet peas. All we ask is that if you take a packet of seeds you leave a packet or place some loose seeds that you have in the envelopes provided and label them. Let’s get swapping seeds! The porch is open on Sundays and also Saturday mornings when the churchyard group are around.01/04/2024
