The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is the main annual meeting for a parish in the Church of England. It provides an opportunity for members of the church community to review the life and work of the parish over the previous year and to help shape its future.
At the meeting a report is presented on different aspects of parish life, including worship, mission, ministry, safeguarding, and finances. This report help members understand how the church has been serving the community and how resources have been used.
The APCM is also an important governance meeting. During it, members of the church electoral roll elect representatives to key roles such as Secretary, Treasurer, Safeguarding lead, churchwardens and members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and Deanery Synod reps who are responsible for helping lead and manage the parish.
Anyone whose name is on the parish electoral roll may attend, vote, and stand for election. The meeting therefore offers a chance for people who belong to the church to take part in its decision-making, support its mission, and contribute to the ongoing life of the parish.
