Recent records of baptisms and marriages are maintained in the parish. We can supply copy certificates of recent marriages and of baptisms as required. Details of the fees for register searches and copy certificates can be found here. Older records are maintained by the local authority. More information can be obtained here. The Archive Service also provide a helpful Guide to Parish Registers and Bishops’ Transcripts. Note that Stoke Minster is listed as STOKE ON TRENT, St Peter (the full designation of the church is St Peter ad Vincula).

Information may variously be held by Stoke-on-Trent’s Archive Service, Staffordshire Record Office and Lichfield Record Office (the parish is in the Diocese of Lichfield).

Many of these records can be accessed at findmypast. Although this is a subscription service, it it is free to use in Staffordshire Libraries and at the Staffordshire Record Office. The Record Office advises that you don't search on the home page but instead find the Staffordshire Collection first by selecting All Record Sets which is under Quick Links lower down the home page, then type Staffordshire into the search box. When you carry out a search for an ancestor and get a list of search results, the camera icon on the extreme right allows you to open the actual image. Staffordshire Record Office can also supply copies here if you wish.
