Southwark and Newington Deanery

We work closely with our neighbours. Our group of Church of England parishes runs from the Thames south bank between Blackfriars Bridge and London Bridge and we are the southernmost tip of the Deanery.

We are proud to have Lancelot Andrewes' grave in our Cathedral: he was a holy, wise leader of our church. His work can be found in the 1611 Authorised Bible translation.

Our Deanery is where Chaucer's pilgrims started on the way to Canterbury. St George the Martyr and the Blue Eyed Maid pub are part of Dicken's 'Little Dorrit'.
