'Places of Welcome' is a growing network of hospitality, run by local community groups with the aim of providing a place to go where a friendly face, a cup of tea and conversation are guarenteed.
St. Helen's 'Place of Welcome' meets weekly on a Thursday between 10.30am. and 1.30pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served up to about 11.45am. and then a soup and bread lunch is served at 12.15pm. Our friendly church volunteers are there to welcome and serve and the refreshments are free. Information about Community and Church are freely available, too.
'Coffee and Cake' meets every Saturday morning between 10.00am. and 12 noon. For a donation to charity you are invited to eat cake and drink a very decent cup of coffee!. Chairities we have supported recently include 'Tiny Steps', Christian Aid, and Children's Society.
On first Sunday afternoons in the month, between May and September, 'Tea at the Tower and Tower Tours' takes place. You are invited to climb the tower, have a go at ringing one of St. Helen's eight bells and enjoy tea/coffee & cake. All for a donation to charity.
