Getting here

                                               WELCOME TO ST MARY'S ASTON

We meet together to share our life journey with God, to become the people we are meant to be. We want to give thanks to God, know more of His love and serve our community.

Brother, sister, let me serve you;
let me be as Christ to you;
pray that I may have the grace to
let you be my servant too.

We are pilgrims on a journey,
and companions on the road;
we are here to help each other
walk the mile and bear the load.

We welcome people of every age and stage of faith.  Join us at 11 am on Sunday and at other times as detailed in the Services and Events section of our website.  Our beautiful historic church is a special place to mark the important events of our lives: baptisms (christenings) thanksgivings, weddings, renewal of vows and funerals as well as sharing our hopes and fears with God in weekly worship.

We are part of the Diocese of St Albans, click under Pages and Links opposite for information and events. We share its vision of ‘Going deeper into God, Making new disciples and Transforming communities’.

What about children?

Children and young people are a valued part of our church and always welcome. On the 1st and 3rd Sundays children are part of our all age Family Service. Activities are provided in a special children’s corner, we have a kitchen and toilet.

The Parish has a small, highly successful Church of England School which is actively involved in church life through weekly collective worship, special services in church and visits.

Share in the work of the church

The church has close links with our village and people help in its upkeep and organising our special events.  Become a bell ringer or sing in the choir (all ages).Use your skills with flower arranging, cleaning, church and churchyard maintenance or special events – contact the Church Wardens or Friends to volunteer.

Food for the Stevenage Food Bank and toiletries for Yarlswood Refugees can be brought to church or left at the Rectory, Church Lane, Watton-at-Stone SG14 3RD.

Pause for prayer.

For a child has been born for us,   a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders;   and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His authority shall grow continually,   and there shall be endless peace
for the throne of David and his kingdom.   He will establish and uphold it with justice and with righteousness   from this time onward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. Isaiah 9:6,7
