We are delighted to welcome back the ever-popular Border Readers for another gripping evening of live storytelling. This will be the fourth year running that the brilliant professional actors will come to St Cuthbert’s as part of their autumn tour of the region.

The theme of this year’s storytelling tour is ‘Words of Love’, interpreted as usual in unexpected ways, and featuring tales by renowned novelists and short story writers Penelope Lively and Jeremy Page.

Thursday 1st October at 7pm

An illustrated talk on the lives, music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin, with musical interludes, by the always-entertaining Emma Anderson.

The talk is both a history and an appreciation, including George’s music, much of which the audience will recognise even if they don’t know the composer. Ira was a brilliant, Pulitzer Prize-winning lyricist, who collaborated with his younger brother George to create some of the most memorable English-language songs of the 20th century.
