Twenty two young people and staff from Lyn Valley attended the Spree weekend which took place at Westpoint Arena ground at Exeter. Spree SW is described as an awesome weekend for young people to build strong friendships and explore the Christian faith together. Here is what they said about it. Spree 2026 what a blast! We absolutely loved taking a group of 22 young people from the Lyn Valley area away this weekend to Spree. A massive thank you to SWYM (South West Youth Ministries) and their army of volunteers for running such an action packed, fun filled, God soaked youth weekend away. And a huge thank you to our amazing volunteer team from Love Lyn Valley (partnership between the local churches of the Lyn Valley area and Lee Abbey, Devon) who gave up their time and their sleep to ensure our group had the best time ever. For some it was their first experience of Spree, for others they have been regularly for the last few years but all of them said that they can't wait for next year's event, which in my book is a sign of a good weekend!https://swym.org.uk/spree-sw/
This announcement was made in Shirwell and Bratton Fleming churches this morning: Sunday 28th June, 2026 The Bishop of Crediton is pleased to announce that, subject to the completion of the statutory formalities, the Reverend Prebendary Rosemary Elizabeth Austin has been appointed as Team Vicar in the benefice of Bishopsnympton, Charles, East Anstey, High Bray, Knowstone, Mariansleigh, Molland, North Molton with Twitchen, Rose Ash and West Anstey, in the Diocese of Exeter. Rosie is currently Team Rector of the Shirwell, Loxhore, Kentisbury, East Down with Arlington, Bratton Fleming, Challacombe and Stoke Rivers Benefice, and will continue to serve as Rural Church Officer in the Diocese of Exeter. She will be moving to the vicarage in Bishops Nympton with her husband, Adam, and details of her licensing service will be announced in due course. This in summary means I am moving to a part time role in a new place, while continuing as Rural Church Officer. The move will be later in the Autumn so a bit of time still to go yet before the move. Adam and I have both loved living in Bratton Fleming and being a part of the community here, and I have loved working with all the people who make up Shirwell Mission Community. But it feels the time is right for the move - sad as we will be to leave - and begin a new adventure. We're not moving far, only half an hour away and still on the edge of Exmoor. Bishop's Nympton, here we come!
