Vicar's Newsletter for All Saints

From_the_Vicar

Dear Friends,

This weekend, as well as putting the clocks back tonight, we move into Kingdom Season – the last month of the church year in which we celebrate and commemorate. We celebrate the truth which we affirm at the end of the Creed: that we believe in life everlasting, made possible through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and holding us all in communion with those who have gone before us. On Sunday we celebrate All Saints, giving thanks for the lives of all those whose lives show us how God’s grace can work in human lives. As my sermon explains, at the end of the service at Lynton there will be the chance to collect a saint’s name to inspire you to find out more about them in the coming year. If you are not able to be in church, and you would like me to pull a saint name form the basket for you, do drop me an email.

On Tuesday, the solemnity of All Souls, we commemorate all those close to us who have died. St Mary’s will be open for a time of prayer and reflection (see attachement) between 7pm and 8pm.I am delighted to welcome the Revd Sue Davies-Fletcher, who is on a short placement with us during her curacy and who will be the celebrant for All Saints and sharing in the leadership of the All Souls hour.

On a practical note, can I remind you to email Sam White (lynvalley[email protected]) by the end of this month (if you haven’t already) to stay on this mailing list. From the beginning of December we will be using a new list only including all those who have updated their permission for us to use their email details.

God bless

Samantha
