Dilton Marsh Mothers' Union Branch News

"Come follow me" Jesus said," and I will send you out to fish for people" Mark 1:17

Our June meeting saw us combining with All Saints' Mothers' Union for our annual "Quiet Day" led by Revd. Margaret Davies.

The day began with Holy Communion with Revd. Rebecca Harris officiating. After a coffee break, a circle of us gathered to listen to Revd. Margaret explaining the theme for the day which was:"ins and outs, ups and downs and roundabouts." An equilateral triangle representing us as equally made up of Spiritual, Physical and Mental parts, formed the basis of our listening, as well as our thinking and discussing. Amongst the discussions, we thought about what was important in our own lives as well as the life of the church. Which aspects were, or should be, in and which ones were, or should be out in the "ups and downs " of our lives and that of the church. Where did we think we would find Jesus if we were on an escalator going up and life was good, while many others were going down when everything seemed to be going against them. On roundabouts, where do we turn off? Which direction should we take?

A very interesting day with Revd. Margaret's usual selection of readings and poetry giving us plenty to consider in our own lives as well as our local churches. We were also able to celebrate Revd. David's forthcoming 90th birthday as well as a younger birthday for Jocelyn, with a birthday cake for each of them.

Forthcoming events include. The Triennial Festival at Salisbury Cathedral on June 20th. ( A report will be included next month) our outing to Tewkesbury Abbey on Thursday July 3rd. and looking ahead we have our Garden Party at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday August 9th.

God welcomes us just as we are, so let us have faith and reach out with confidence.
