Church of England Diocese of Salisbury Bromham, Chittoe and Sandy Lane

Bromham: St Nicholas

A Message From Revd Ruth

It's with a heavy heart that I'm confirming that public worship in our churches is suspended until further notice. The archbishops have announced this for the whole of the Church of England. But we are still here for you! Please get in touch if we can help, with particular prayers for you or loved ones, with a phone call or any practical help.

I will be praying in all three churches, and also celebrating the eucharist quietly, on behalf of the whole Benefice. If there is an urgent need for a visit, please get in touch. We will also be making short films of Sunday services, and will put those on YouTube – we will send out information on this in the next few days.

We will continue to serve the community in carrying out funerals, weddings and baptisms, although the numbers attending are limited subject to any further advice from the Government.

There are many online resources to enable us to worship and pray at home. Please have a look at the CofE website:

We are putting a Thought For The Day on our Facebook page – search for “Churches of Rowde and Bromham”

We hope to keep our churches open for private prayer, although we ask that you maintain social distancing. Also, please use the hand sanitiser when you come into our churches, or wash your hands.

On Sunday 22nd, Mothering Sunday, please place a lighted candle in a window at 7pm as a sign of solidarity and hope in the light of Christ that can never be extinguished. Remember in your prayers those who are sick or anxious, and all involved in our Health Service.

At Bromham, we had a congregational meeting planned for Saturday 21st, which is postponed, and we’ll let you know when it will happen. Our Lent groups are also cancelled, and all activities which would have happened in church, like Little Angels and the Footpath Group at Bromham, and coffee mornings at Rowde.

This change will be hard to live through, especially for those of us whose lives have centred on worship for years. If anyone needs support, please do give me a call. My diary is much freer now, and I expect to spend much more time on the phone.

With every blessing to you all, and your loved ones.

A Prayer For All Those Affected By Coronavirus

Keep us, good Lord,

under the shadow of your mercy.

Sustain and support the anxious,

be with those who care for the sick,

and lift up all who are brought low;

that we may find comfort

knowing that nothing can separate us from your love

in Christ Jesus our Lord.
