Church life: Activities and Groups through the week

St Mary Magdalene’s isn’t just for Sundays!
All sorts of things go on in the church and parish hall during the week, and we believe that as Christians everything we do in our daily and working lives, we do for the glory of God.

Find out more about:

Café Church:

Fancy a proper cup of coffee or tea, homemade cake or biscuit, and maybe a nice chat? Then our church café is the place to be: Wednesday mornings in the Parish Hall from 10am to 12pm.

Here you’ll find a warm welcome and, if you wish, a listening ear or someone to pray with you.

The Table:

The Table is our parish lunch club for elderly people who live alone. We enjoy a two-course hot meal, freshly cooked on the premises by our team of volunteers, often with live piano accompaniment.

There is a small charge to cover costs and places need to be booked in advance. Please contact us if you are interested in joining us yourself or would like to recommend someone to us.

Fellowship Groups (for Bible study and prayer together):

Renewal of Fellowship Groups are under review

Mothers’ Union:

St. Mary Magdalene has a branch of the Mothers’ Union which meets monthly usually on a Monday afternoon. The group is concerned with all issues affecting family life in modern society, and is involved in charitable work at home and abroad.

Men and women, of all ages and in any family circumstances, are very welcome to join us.

For more information about Mothers’ Union generally, have a look at the Mothers’ Union website. If you would like to find out more about our group at St Mary Magdalene’s please contact either Avis Clark on 0191 386 7965 or Dorothy Chambers on 0191 386 8491. Or you can contact the office.

Parish Hall:

The hall hosts a varied collection of groups and activities - from those with a keep-fit focus, to being all about the music, from Weight Watchers to Guides and Brownies!
