About Us

Hello!  We are so pleased you want to find out more about St Mary & St John's here in Lamyatt!

We are a small rural community, and we'd like to think you will find a warm welcome with us. Come and join us at one of our services!

Dedicated to St Mary & St John, we are part of the Alham Vale Benefice. Our church is situated at the bottom of Portway Hill in wonderful countryside with access to many footpaths over the Somerset landscape.   We are open during daylight hours for visitors or anyone wanting to find a place of peace for reflection or prayer.

Our collage, produced in 1995 by ladies of the village, is well worth seeing and postcards are available for purchase. There is also a book of memories of Lamyatt in days gone by that can be read.

We hold a service of Worship for All, lasting about 40 minutes on the first Sunday of each month at 11am, and Holy Communion, lasting for about an hour on the third Sunday at 11am. Any variations to this are listed on the noticeboard in the porch or in the Parish magazine, Evercreech News.  We also hold a Lammas service in a local barn, harvest followed by lunch, pet service and carol service.
