It can be hard to meditate or pray on your own, so come and join a friendly group for a time of meditation/silent prayer once a month at Buxton's Community Room (left of Buxton's Close), Vicarage Road, Wookey, BA5 1JW.

Please arrive from 2pm so that we can all be seated by 2:15pm, as there is a security lock on the door. Each session starts and ends with a short reading, but the time in the middle is silent for you. There's a chance to enjoy a cuppa and a chat afterwards too. Join other people from local area for a short Holy Communion service without singing. This is a great service to come to if you find it difficult to attend Sunday services or if you want to celebrate Holy Communion during the week.

Join us at this Holy Communion service, which is a chance for people from all three parishes to worship together each month. The service is for all ages, with singing, Bible readings, prayers, and a short talk. There is space for children to play and be creative in the church, or they can join in with the service. This is a more relaxed church service than other Holy Communion services, making it great if you're exploring your faith. Everyone is welcome, and there's a chance to chat to other people after the service over coffee.

Meditation is a universal spiritual tradition. We find it in all the great wisdom traditions of the human family. Meditation takes us to the depths of our being, to our true self and to the pure experience of God in the ground of our being. In the early Christian monastic tradition we find the practical instructions on how to pray in what Jesus called the “inner room” and “in spirit and truth”.

We’ll look at and discuss paintings of the apostle Peter’s activities following Christ’s resurrection: healing people and God breaking him out of prison! We’ll compare the accounts in both renaissance and modern artworks.
