On Saturday, July 26, the church will be open from 10am when we hold a special Open Day / Gift Day.
This is a chance to meet our new vicar, Fr Keith Freeman, who has recently taken up his post at St James.
It will also be a chance to hear about a new development at the back of church.
We are planning to install a toilet which will be wheelchair-friendly and accessible for anyone with a mobility issue. There It will have an adjoining servery for refreshments.
We have received substantial grant aid funding but still need to raise money locally to complete the works.
So come along on July 26 for a cuppa, a chat with the new vicar and the chance to contribute to this worthwhile development.

St James

Welcome to St James Church and thanks for finding us! We are a small, friendly church in Burnopfield, a village in County Durham.

We have a strong tradition of prayerful worship and community service, as well as playing a key role in the life of the village.

You are assured of a warm welcome, both at our regular services and also at our special services held to mark Christmas,  Easter and the other significant events in the church calendar. We also plan a number of community-based events throughout the year.

Our services

We currently hold one service a week, a Eucharist each Sunday at 11.15am.  As we are currently in an interregnum this is conducted by a visiting priest or our reader, who conducts communion by extension.

In addition, we have a service of Morning Prayer on the first Thursday of the month, at 9.45am.

You can also access streaming services from Durham Cathedral via the Durham Cathedral Facebook page.
