Accessibility

We have a disabled access toilet at the rear of the church beside the meeting room.

Baby changing facilities are available in the toilet room at the back of the church.

Car parking is available along the road outside the church. It is possible to drive up to the church door if mobility is a problem.

We have an accessible toilet at the back of the church, next to the meeting room. This includes baby changing facilities.

It is possible to drive right up to the church door as a drop off point for anyone who has mobility difficulties.

There is a defibrillator at the front door of Magdalene Court, immediately opposite the church

The entrance to church, toilet, meeting room and seating areas is flat - no steps except to the choir and altar area at the front of church

Church has a hearing induction loop

Assistance dogs are always welcome in the church.

We are dementia aware / accessible

Gluten free bread is available at the altar - just ask.


Our Building

This church has some beautiful stained glass windows behind the altar and one in the Nave West Wall

When the church is open, it is available for individual and private prayer. Church is open Tuesdays 10am - 1.30pm and Thursday 10am-12

Music and Worship

The historic organ at St Mary's was built in Sheffield by Brindley & Foster in 1882. It has been serviced regularly by Harrison & Harrison Ltd since 1952. The organ has essentially been unaltered since its installation and has a Grade II* listing by the British Institute of Organ Studies.

This book contains all the information necessary to follow the service. The words in bold are the words spoken by the congregation in response to the priest. Instructions will be given as to when to stand and sit or come forward for communion or a blessing.


Groups, Courses and Activities

We have regular monthly coffee mornings. Welcome Space Thursday coffee morning 10am -12pm. On the 4th Saturday of the month we host a Church coffee morning 10am -11.30am. We sell a selection of delicious home made cakes .

We help organise the annual Remembrance Service with other partners and provide refreshments afterwards

Art Class - usually Friday evenings - 5pm -7pm. See Medomsley Art Group facebook for more details
We work closely with Medomsley Community Action Group who lease our community garden.
CCC cafe Tuesday 10am -12 - craft and chat, coffee and biscuits
Warm Welcome Tuesdays - 12-1.30pm, hot soup, hot drinks and friendship
Welcome Space -Thursday coffee morning 10am - 12, supported by grant funding from by County Durham Community Foundation

Sunday School is a lot of fun and includes worship and crafts. We hold this at the same time as the Sunday Service but in the meeting room, inside church. Jill leads Sunday School.

We use some Fair Trade products in the church eg tea, coffee

We have a collection point where donations can be made to 'Food For You'

Most of Medomsley is within a Conservation area. St Mary Magdalene Church is Grade I listed

Our small meeting room / kitchen is available for hire. Speak to our church wardens for details. Hire at £10 per hour. It can be independently heated and has everything you need to make hot drinks. We have a microwave oven.
