Caistor to Tealby
Today I had my good friend Christine walking with me. We started off where I had finished yesterday at Caistor Church, Church no. 5.
There has been a change to where you cross Caistor bypass, and a much better access to start the walk to Nettleton. We met a couple on the path walking back to Nettleton, who said they always walked to Caistor that way. They came with us to Nettleton Church (church no. 6) and offered to take the photos. I told them about doing Cadney to the Cathedral and he said he had already heard about it.
From Nettleton we started the walk across field until we reached the woods and the old Nettleton mines. We passed a bench with a plaque about two Lusitano horses, and it said it was provided by The Channel five series The Yorkshire vet.
The views are stunning once again, it was great to see so many Viking Way markers and sign posts strategically placed to help you find your way. There were many places you could literally see for miles, and could pick out Lincoln Cathedral over on the horizon. Normanby Top ‘golf ball’ was close by too.
We entered Normanby village and found the church, we called in for a look around, some villagers came to see us, and offered to take a photo for us, this was church no. 7. As you’ll see they had lovely dogs, who greeted me.
From Normanby we headed off again towards Walesby. From here we could Belmont on the horizon. Beautiful countryside once again, it was a treat to be out walking there. At Walesby we found the church in the village and called in, it had a loo! I signed the visitors book, as I have when any churches are open, this was church no. 8.
We then went up the hill to Walesby Top church, (church no. 9) known as the Ramblers Church. There were a couple of ladies sat outside, who I hope read this, they said they were reminiscing about growing up locally. After we’d called inside the church and eaten a bit of lunch in there, we met the ladies again, and I took a photo of them with my rucksack and Patch next to them.
From Walesby we set off again across the fields towards Tealby, we met quite a few groups of people out walking, we saw a deer, we’d seen a red kite earlier on, the views again were stunning. We passed several Lincoln Long wool sheep snoozing in the shade of the trees.
Following the path, we finally reached our destination of Tealby Church, just as we reached Tealby, my phone rang and it was BBC Radio Lincolnshire. I did an interview with Amy standing in for Richard Stead, we had two minutes notice to the interview starting, and just reached the bench outside Tealby church in time for the interview to start. Tealby was church no. 10.

Today was 10.6 miles, with an elevation of over 1000 ft according to my Strava.
I’m doing this not just because I love walking and like a challenge, but also to try and raise some extra money to sort out Cadney church roof. All donations are welcome.
