Cadney to the Cathedral - Day 7 Fiskerton to Lincoln Cathedral

Cadney to the Cathedral

Day 7 Fiskerton to Lincoln Cathedral.

Nine of us travelled in two cars to Fiskerton and parked at five mile end just outside the village this morning. The majority of the group agreed that they would prefer to walk into Lincoln following the path along the River Witham.

It is a beautiful easy to walk route, following the River Witham into the centre of Lincoln. We all had a good walk and chat and enjoyed the pleasant walk into the city, getting a regular glimpse of the Cathedral getting closer.

When we reached the centre of Lincoln, some said, they didn’t think they would manage the steeper uphill stage of getting up to the Cathedral.

So just Christine and I carried on uphill while the rest decided to find Weatherspoons for something to eat.

I’ve walked up Steep Hill, but still forget exactly how steep it is. We reached the top, rounded the corner, through the arch, and we were there. Viv, had messaged me the previous evening to ask what time I would arrive, and she was there to greet me, give me a hug and some sponsor money.

Simon Jones the Dean of the Cathedral was waiting for news of my arrival. I called him, and while we were waiting I spoke to a couple outside about taking a photo, and what I had been doing, and she said, she had just read about it on the diocesan website.

Simon arrived, and the lady kindly took a photo of myself, Christine, Viv and Simon the Dean. Simon then kindly invited us all to come through the cathedral and offered to treat us all to a drink.

By taking the alternative route, I didn’t call into Fiskerton and Cherry Wilingham churches today, but I am going to return soon, and visit them. I did still, though, have a very lovely walk once again with some great friends.

My husband, John, has been a great support this week, he brought me back home, and then we had a family Christening this afternoon at Cadney Church, it was wonderful to see the church full, especially as many of them were my extended family.

We have a service at Cadney Church, at 11am on Sunday morning (2nd), everyone is always welcome, we would love to see you.
