Christenings

A christening, or baptism, is a welcome into the Church and the start of a life of faith. Water is used as the sign of baptism, and parents and godparents make promises to help the child grow in faith.

Anyone can be baptised, at any age. Most who come to us are babies and children, but adults are welcome too, and there is no charge for a christening. Godparents are chosen to support the child and pray for them as they grow. If you would rather give thanks for a new baby without making the baptism promises just yet, we also hold a simple service of thanksgiving.
