Back in 2019 St Saviour's Parochial Church Council (PCC) agreed to undertake a project to install new lighting in the church, with a rewire. Following consultation with our architect, Tony Lightowler, a scheme was agreed, and negotiations began with the Diocesan Advisor Committee (DAC) for the necessary permissions.Specialist input, securing a contractor, a national pandemic and several scaffolding towers later, the project is now complete. Some of us have been amazed to see carving to the roof boards which previously were hidden in the gloom. Reading hymns and service material in the pews is now a lot easier, and the lighting can be adjusted to create atmosphere to times of silent prayer or the family liturgy. Thanks to Tony, the PCC, Lisa at the DAC and Alectrifix (contractors) for seeing this through.
Thanks to all who donate on a regular basis - the goods will be distributed via Dewsbury South Community Support, of which we are a member. We have a box at the back of church for groceries - dry goods / tins / toiletries are best. We are always looking for volunteers to help with organising the Bank and helping with distributions - please speak to Ann Blackburn or Fr George for more information.
See attached document for our timetable until the end of June. The idea is to give people an opportunity to talk about loss and how the last 18 months has been for them, and to obtain some friendly support. Covid restrictions will be in place to keep us all safe in line with current guidelines. And of course there will be free tea/coffee and cake! All welcome - contact Fr George for further information - 07388 507282 hospitalgeorge@gmail.com
Fr George is trying to ramp up the streaming to a new level with the use of a digital camera and wifi. The old 'Saviour's Love' Facebook page which has sustained us through the pandemic is to be replaced with new group "Savvylove". This will contain both services from St Saviour's and the garden shed as well as the 'Savvytalks' and 'Shedtalks'. As before the intention is to offer a broader spiritual resource drawing on wider traditions to present ideas and ways of promoting wellbeing and health. You should be able to find the group with a Facebook search.
