On Monday 9th June at 10am we will be completing our annual wildflower and wildlife audit. We have a detailed checklist based on previous observations with 70+ plants and other residents including birds, mammals, amphibians and insects! You are very welcome to come and join Margaret and I during this session. However we'll also be leaving these checklists in the church entrance from 1st-15th June so any visitor can do their own audit at any time. We have some very helpful books and identification charts in the church - so just come and enjoy this beautiful churchyard and see what you can spot!
We are so looking forward to our History Day on Saturday 17th August! The parish of Marton and Moxby has such a fascinating history and we're going to be sharing some of the stories of key people, from early Marton to more recent days, through short presentations, photos, pictures and documents. For example, we've been having great fun looking at some wonderful illustrated manuscripts that depict the daily lives of nuns and monks, as well as everyday countryfolk of the time. Starting at 9.30am there will be 5 presentations across the day, finishing with an optional pilgrimage walk from Marton Church via the former site of Marton Priory to Crayke Church to see their window dedicated to St Cuthbert.
