Wildlife in our churchyard

We are very lucky to have such a beautiful churchyard with open views of the countryside.
The churchyard management is 'wildlife-friendly', and Sarah Sigsworth, a member of our PCC, scythes the grass by hand to encourage wildflowers and promote the wellbeing of inhabitants such as toads and voles!
Nesting boxes, a bird-feeding station and a small pond provide hospitality to visitors including white and red-tailed bumblebees, azure damselflies, frogs, shieldbugs and newts. Please do read her wildlife conservation update from April 2020.

We have also included our 2023 annual 'Count on Nature' audit which records the flora and fauna identified on 6.6.23. Apologies for not recognising more insects! We will look for more expert help with this next year (2024).

We have recently been awarded the Bronze Level Eco Church Award with the environmental charity A Rocha.  ecochurch.arocha.org.uk/. Our next challenge will be the Silver Level!
