The original idea for a labyrinth emerged during covid-19 restrictions, when St Mary's Church had to stay closed because of social distancing regulations. Now, thanks to the support of the PCC/congregation and very practical help, advice and guidance from a local labyrinth enthusiast, we have been able to go ahead with this project.

Peter Clark, a retired clergyman and keen 'labyrnaut' designed the labyrinth and helped us to install it at the very end of December 2025. At our Epiphany Service at 3pm on Sunday 4th January 2026 we will be saying a prayer of blessing on this new and temporary feature in the churchyard.

This prayer/peace/mindful walk has been laid in 'The Spring Meadow', a part of the churchyard that isn't often visited. In keeping with our commitment to nurture the whole churchyard as a wildlife meadow and to build on our Eco Friendly Church status, this has been created out of locally sourced sawdust (with many thanks to D Wilson Timber) and the structure will simply disappear in Spring when the grasses grow up.

Do come and visit - there will be leaflets in the church and on the fence for anyone who is interested in finding out a bit more about labyrinths and/or pilgrimage/prayer walks.
