For many years, Marton churchyard has been managed to promote wildlife. One corner has its own bird feeding station and visitors to the picnic table often tell us how much they enjoy listening to the birdsong. Some of us have used the Merlin app on our phones to identify birds by their song, but it can be difficult to spot them! We thought it might be fun to have a short birdwatching session and Tim Pope (our bassoon player and keen ornithologist) has very kindly agreed to come and point out any visitors.
Our plan is to arrive before 10 so we can sit quietly together. Parking is available at Church Farm. You will need stout shoes and warm weather-appropriate clothing - you may wish to bring binoculars and an outdoor seat. Hot drinks and cake will be available in the church, and we do also have a loo.
If you would like to come and do your own birdwatch at another time during the weekend, there will be RSPB checklists in the church porch. You are always welcome to note any wildlife observations in the book on the table as you enter church.
