Accessibility

One toilet in the entrance porch - free sanitary products are available.

There are baby changing facilities at the back of church - along with a selection of complimentary nappies and wipes.

There is no church car park, however there is local parking available. This is either roadside, or can be found behind the Co-Op on Crowberry Lane or in the Church Hall Car-Park located off St James' Road.

The toilet may pose problems for those with restricted mobility.

There is no public phone at St James' Church and the mobile signal can be patchy in church.

Everybody is welcome to attend St James' Church. If you would like to discuss any specific requirements, please contact Beth on 01283 712359 where every effort will be made to accommodate your needs.

The front door of the church is fully accessible from both Main Street and Church Lane. Disabled visitors are welcomed to be dropped off at the door.

The nearest defibrillators are located at the Co-Op on Main Street or at Barton Library on Dunstall Road.

The entrance to the church is flat and there is a ramp to access the nave.
A half-step is provided to access the chancel if required.

Hymn Books, Service Sheets and the Weekly Benefice Bulletin are available in Large Print.
Should you require a further increase in print size, please do let us know and this can be arranged for you.

Assistance Dogs are welcome to attend our church and services.

St James' Church prides itself on being a 'Becoming a Dementia Friendly Church'.
Dementia Friendly briefing sheets are available at all services, along with clear signage and a quiet area. We would welcome a further conversation with you should you like to attend.
St James' Church also run "EDEN" - a Dementia Friendly and Accessible Service on the 3rd Friday of each month. A period of informal gathering time for those who live with Dementia and those who care for and support them.

Gluten Free Communion Wafers and refreshments are available.

St James' Church is open every day during daylight hours.

The Church is Grade II* listed.

St James' Church run Tea and Chat every 1st Monday of the Month. A chance to get together with old friends and make new ones over a brew and a biscuit.
During the cooler months - St James' Church is regularly heated throughout the week to ensure a warm welcome.

St James' Church currently holds the Eco-Church Silver Award.

Music and Worship

The bells are rung at St James' every Sunday morning and for occasional offices and special events, services and feasts throughout the year.
Bell Practice takes place each Wednesday evening between 7:30pm-9:00pm.
We are always interested in hearing from those who may be interested in finding out more about the bells or who would like to learn to ring. Please contact the Bell Captain, Mrs Jill Rogers on 01283 712809 for more information.

St James' Church is an beautiful venue to host concerts or music recitals; with a number of local choirs hosting concert's throughout the year.

An Allen Organ is situated in the church and is played at Sunday Services.
There is also a Collard and Collard Grand Piano which is played for worship at various services.

BCP Holy Communion is celebrated at 8:00am on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

The Music Group leads worship on the 2nd Sunday of each month and at occasional services and events throughout the year. For more information, or if you are interested in joining, please contact the Benefice Office on 01283 712359 who will put your in touch with our Musical Director.


Groups, Courses and Activities

ROOTS! Youth welcomes all young people in school years 7-13. A relaxed and informal Youth Group, meeting at St James Church Hall from 7:30pm - 9:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. A chance to chill and chat with friends, in a warm and safe space - along with chance to raid the tuck shop!

ROOTS+ is our Youth Service which is held at 6:00pm on the 3rd Sunday of each month in St James' Church. All are welcome to come along as we worship together.

Whilst there is no official brass rubbing activities, you are welcome to take rubbings of stones and brasses should you wish.

Mindful Monday's include RE:Light which seeks to deepen our discipleship and Time and Space to provide a stillness and contemplation.

Home Group runs on the first Monday of the Month at The Vicarage from 7:00pm.

We collect for Burton YMCA - donations can be left at the back of Church and these are regularly taken through to the Food Bank.
