Christenings

A child is a precious gift and we would love to celebrate that gift with you. In baptism, your child becomes part of the church family, as well as your own. Being a parent isn't always easy, and we'd love to help and encourage you - not just for the christening day itself but as your child grows and as we make a journey of faith together.

We're always glad to meet with families - simply fill in our online baptism enquiry form and we'll contact you to see how we can help, usually within a couple of days.

We also welcome adults to baptism here at St James' Church and look forward to meeting you as you embark on your faith journey. Fill in our adult baptism enquiry form and we will be in touch!

Christening marks the start of an amazing journey. You can find out more here including a step-by-step guide to what takes place in the service.

What about Godparents? Godparents have a really important role in your child's life - not just at the christening, but in years to come. The Church of England offers really helpful advice about Godparents here. Please note that it is a condition of the Church of England that Godparents must be baptised. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this.
