We found ourselves so upset by the closure of all churches that we were grateful when one of the retired priests who has been taking some of our services during the interregnum agreed to make a short videoed service to put on-line. We have continued to do this and have made it a weekly event. We have been delighted that Archdeacon Ven Matthew Parker has contributed to several services. Ven Matthew says he has enjoyed the freedom that a videoed service provides and the chance to experiment. Bishop Michael, Bishop of Lichfield contributed to our St James Day service and will contribute to the service on all Saints Day 1st November. In August, Bishop Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham provided a sermon and blessing. Our founder Dr John Taylor, Master ofthe Rolls was also Archdeacon of Buckingham. Check our website www.stjamesbarton.org/benefice or our Facebook page for the current link or search for St James Church Barton under Needwood on YouTube. As the service is recorded, the time when you view it is discretionary. If you wish to join us for Zoom coffee after the service at 11.30 am, email the church warden for the link and password for the meeting.

We plan to celebrate our Harvest Festival on Sunday 11th October with Revd Chris Polhill officiating. This will be a communion service. We will decorate the church to remind ourselves of God's beneficence in providing the wonderful natural world, the crops and all the plants that nourish our bodies, minds and souls.. Any donations of tins, dry goods and confectionary will be taken to the Burton YMCA Food Bank. No fresh fruit or veg this year please as the food bank can't take it because of current restrictions.

We intend to continue to provide video services for those members of the church who cannot come back to church yet, either for reasons of their health, anxiety or disability. There will contine to be two or three video services each month which will be uploaded to Youtube and converted to DVD for those who don't do computers. We are very grateful to Jacqui who has sourced portable DVD players for those who haven't got one. We have 15 members of our home congregation who have the DVDs delivered each week.
