Welcome  to the Parish of  St George, Tombland!

St George's is the flint church with the blue clock, the pretty garden, the blossom trees, just behind the Edith Cavell Pub.  Join us if you're looking for a relaxed, easy-going, inclusive church in the catholic tradition, with bells and incense, services with (some of) the old words and real hymns and a friendly welcome with good coffee and excellent biscuits. We are an Eco Church with a silver award. The Church is a city centre venue and we are happy to host concerts and exhibitions: do get in touch if you want to enquire about holding your event here.

We are open for services on Sundays and Fridays (but please check notices for changes to these things). Between April and August we aim to open for visitors on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, but this is subject to change depending on the availability of keyholders, so please do get in touch before making a special journey.

These pages also give you links to resources for how you can be part of our virtual congregation if you can't come to church for any reason. One of our Sunday services (here or at Colegate) is normally streamed live on Zoom so that those unable to attend may follow from a computer or by phone. There is also a prayer group on Zoom.

Do get in touch if you are in need of prayer. We are praying for you and for the world, and would be glad to have you pray with us in Church or from your own home.

You can also follow us on facebook (see "social" links in the menu on the left).

We are working with Eco Church to improve our carbon footprint and other ways in which we cause an impact on the wellbeing of others and of our planet. We achieved the silver award in 2023. Click on the item on the left for suggestions for small things you can do at home and in your Christian life: this is an important part of our contribution to treading lightly on God's earth.

All are welcome in our church. We are an inclusive church. We are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer. At St George's we take safeguarding seriously. If you have a concern about the safety of someone or the actions of a person working with children or vulnerable adults, please speak out and stay safe. Further information can be found under "Safeguarding" on this page.
