Mary's Book Club at St. Faith's Welcome to Book Club Mary's Book Club at St. Faith's is for anyone who loves a good read, good conversation and good company. Why not try a completely new genre, the latest release or a classic? There is a book out there for everybody and reading will do you the power of good. Our History Mary's Book Club began twenty years ago as a community initiative at Hitchin Girls' School. The two school librarians, including Mary, were founding members and continue to be involved. Some members do have links to Hitchin Girls' School, others none. Book Club moved to St. Faith's following Mary's retirement and we have welcomed new members from St. Faith's. Our Meetings We meet on a Tuesday evening every 4-6 weeks for about an hour of lively conversation. Members are now taking turns to bring along a selection of titles from which we all vote to choose our next chosen read. Everyone is encouraged to join in the conversation about our current read - all opinions are welcome - no matter whether you loved or hated the book. Did you know that reading for as little as six minutes can lower stress levels by 60% by reducing your heart rate and easing muscle tension? Reading is better at reducing stress than music, going for a walking or drinking tea? So why not come along - enjoy a cup of tea - or just read our current book from the comfort of your sofa?
We are thrilled to announce that starting Sunday, 10th May, St. Faith’s will be officially sharing our building with The Hub Church. This is a wonderful opportunity to bless another local congregation, build community connections, and maximize the use of our church home.HUB Meeting TimesThe Hub is one community with two Sunday gatherings, and they will be utilizing our space for the following services:11:00 AM: A morning gathering designed for adults and families.5:00 PM Evening Service: A later gathering specifically tailored for younger adults.St. Faith's Sunday ServiceTo accommodate our new Partners in Faith, we will move our start time for the Regular Sunday Service for St. Faith's Traditional Worship,09:30 AM: A morning family service with Eucharist at least twice per month, interspersed with Morning Prayer.Get to Know The HubFor those who might be unfamiliar with our new building partners, The Hub believes that following Jesus isn’t just about what happens for seventy-five minutes on a Sunday morning—it’s an all-of-life invitation.Jesus calls us to be His disciples in the places we spend most of our time: in our homes, at the office, at the school gates, and across our neighbourhoods. The Hub strives to be a community that truly lives life together. Whether it is sharing the highs at a social, embarking together on an Alpha course, playing football on a Tuesday night, or supporting each other through the lows in a "MiniHub," they believe that sharing life and having a lot of fun along the way is what church is all about.Improving Our Shared SpaceAlong with this partnership comes some exciting news for our building's interior! In order to improve the space at St. Faith's for both our own congregation and the "Hubsters," they have generously offered to redecorate the side rooms.Work will officially begin on Easter Monday (April 6th).We are incredibly excited about this update. Above, you can see a visualization of how they envision the newly refreshed side room looking once the work is complete!
