Dear DSL Villagers,

You are all warmly invited to join one of the most fun village evenings of the year: the Safari Supper! Second only to the fete, this event is also a major contributor to supporting the village church.

The format is slightly different this year:

Everyone will meet together for drinks and nibbles at The Old Rectory (instead of a starter course at different houses) and then we will all head off to host houses for the main course and move again for the pudding course. We will all then regather for coffee and/or something stronger at Barley House, kindly hosted by Anne Wright.

I have already heard from some willing hosts (thank you) but I will need more please! Hosts provide food and drinks to guests at their own expense but of course will not be charged the full ticket price. Hosts will receive a discount of £15 for main course and £8 for pudding, from their ticket price.

Due to the slightly different format this year, the full ticket price is slightly lower at £32 per person.

When you let me know if you can come, please indicate whether you would be happy to host a main or a pudding course (stating a preference if you have one) or if you will just be attending as a guest. Do also let me know if you have any special dietary requirements.

Timings for the evening are as follows:

6.30pm onwards: Drinks and nibbles at The Old Rectory. Here you will be given your surprise(!) envelope giving details of your hosts for main course and pudding
7.30pm: Main courses start
9pm: Pudding courses start
10pm: Coffee/something stronger at Barley House

Palm Sunday Walk in the Baldons - a pilgrimage walk with short reflections, beginning at St Peter's Marsh Baldon at 10.30am, and finishing at St Lawrence, Toot Baldon around 11.45am
No service in Drayton St Leonard today,

Service for churches in the Dorchester Team followed by an optional Gethsemane watch, concluding with compline at 9:45pm, ending at 10pm

Team Easter Vigil held at Stadhampton Church. Join us for a BBQ followed by an outside fireside Easter Vigil to celebrate the Hope of Easter, with lighting of the Easter Candles from the fire, followed by toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate

Easter Day Celebration followed by an Easter Egg Hunt and walking the labyrinth in the churchyard at 10.15am

Timings approximate - the APM and APCM meetings are held immediately following the (shortened) service. Check the church porch and door for the official notices, and look back here for updates closer to the time.
APM = Annual Parish Meeting open to all village residents. APCM = Annual Parochial Church Meeting, only those on the Parochial electoral register may vote. These meetings are usually short, and are immediately followed by the first meeting of the new PCC (Parochial Church Council), again brief.
The electoral role underwent a full revision in 1995, If you are not already on it please register to allow you to vote in the APCM, application forms can be found in church, deadline 6 weeks before the meeting.

The Church Fête Weekend Weekend starts with our traditional Fête on Saturday and concludes with the Duck Race at the ford on Sunday.

The new committee can be expected to introduce some brand new events this year, and continue with many favourite and traditional events and stalls. Check the poster at “view attachment” below for details closer to the time. Lucky Programme at entrance gates, suggested donation £2.
The Church Fête starts at 1pm Sat 20 Jun 2025 in the Fête field by the children's playground and the football area.
For the Duck Race on Sunday 21 Jun, gather at noon at the village’s Ford over the River Thame.
