Church of England Diocese of Leeds Ossett-cum-Gawthorpe

Children and Families

We hope you will see that children and families are at the heart of our thinking at Trinity Church.

We encourage families with younger children (up to 11 years) to attend monthly Family Services and Trinity Families, but we include special activities for children at all our regular services, through groups. We have special plans - Transitions - for children aged 8+, over the next twelve months.

We have regular weekly groups (term time only) for parents/carers and babies and tots each Tuesday (Trinity Babies) and Thursday (Trinity Tots). These are both very relaxed, with small charges, and provide a relaxed and warm welcome and great social opportunity.

> The Trinity Childcare provision (before and after school clubs for children aged 4-11 years at Holy Trinity, Gawthorpe and Towngate Primary Academy; holiday clubs) operating on more than 300 days a year, is a key contribution the church facilitates for community care and family support in Ossett and Gawthorpe.

> We have a very special, and close link with Holy Trinity School - our vicar is an ex-officio governor, along with six foundation governors who are usually church members.  We are frequently in the school or hosting school visits and services at Trinity.  We are thrilled to have supported the school in developing its link with a partner school in Tanzania and in building community links with Headfield School in Dewsbury.

> We also have close working relationships with other schools in the parish, including Flushdyke (where curate Lucy is a governor) and Gawthorpe Community Academy, again with collective worship, visits and seasonal services a focus.  Our relationship with Gawthorpe has the added dimension of links around the traditions of the Maypole weekend, and a special service is held each May at which the maypole plaiters from Gawthorpe Community Academy always sing.

> A dedicated safeguarding team meets frequently to review our provision.

> We expect to be developing strong links with the new 50th Wakefield (North Ossett) Scout group based out of Holy Trinity School from September 2018.
